Carefully thought-out down to the smallest detail, the Passat delivers top-class comfort in every respect. It starts with the 12-way massage seats, and extends to the draught-free Climatronic climate

Innovative engineering provides a unique level of ride comfort in the new Passat. The electronic parking brake stops the vehicle from rolling off at traffic stops and on hill slopes when gear is freed, yet it automatically releases when you move off. This allows the vehicle to pull away smoothly. The intelligent bi-xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights provide a broad view even on tight bends. And the adaptive cruise control will keep you at a safe distance from the vehicle ahead even in nose-to-tail traffic.

Interior

Why is it that in some cars you immediately feel at home and have the impression that the car has been made for you alone? The answer is really quite simple: perfect ergonomics.

This means that all instruments are in the driver’s direct field of vision, that the switches and controls are within easy reach, and everything placed exactly there when you would intuitively expect them to be.

Perfect ergonomics also means that all occupants enjoy top level sitting comfort. So the seats of the new Passat have been designed to be adjustable to suit your individual stature and feature materials that emphasise the Passat's high quality. The interior features leather seat upholstery, decorative aluminium  insert, and steering wheels with leather trim.

Exterior

Large sections of the body are produced in one piece. Together with computer-controlled laser welding and high-strength bonding, this ensures a precision fit and robust connection of parts. Additional cross and side members give the whole vehicle considerably greater torsional rigidity.

With minimal, even joint dimensions the result not only looks good. The entire road behaviour of the new Passat has been matched for a noticeably smoother, more comfortable ride. Even annoying creaking, grating, and wind noise has to a large extend been eliminated.

Safety

The new Passat has a four-link front axle, a torsion beam rear axle, and an anti-roll bar at both front and rear. This ensures not only smooth, straight-line running, but also exact cornering when steering into and out of bends. Plus, with disc brakes all round, an anti-lock brake system (ABS) and electronic brake pressure distribution (EBD, you can rest assured that the new Passat can be braked safely, and as quickly as possible.

To assure a high level of active safety, the new Passat has an electronic stability programme ESP as standard.
In addition, passengers are protected by up to eight airbags. Two front airbags and two side airbags at the front - for the driver and front passenger - are standard in the new Passat. You can opt for additional curtain airbags at front and rear as an optional extra.

Other standard features included in the safety equipment of the new Passat are height-adjustable 3-point inertia reel seat belts with belt tensioners for the front seats and outer rear seats.
